We are excited to bring an opportunity for off-road racing with our NEW Gravel Sprint event.
This open water sprint distance triathlon comprises a 750m swim in the lake, an off-road bike course and a 5k run – all within the traffic free grounds of Holkham Estate. It’s a great opportunity for novices as well as those looking to test their speed. Tackle it on your own or join with friends to make a Relay team.
The Bike route will take place on the trails, farm and gravel roads within the Estate. We recommend using a gravel, cyclocross, mountain or sturdy hybrid bike. The course is not technical, however, getting some practice riding on various different types of surfaces including grass and gravel would be a benefit.
The run will primarily be on grass trails and footpaths close to the main event area, which is ideal for spectators! We’d recommend wearing a light trail shoe or a road shoe with good grip for this route.
Minimum Age: 15 years on 31 December 2024 (Individual and Relay)
The swim takes place in the private lake on Holkham Estate against the backdrop of the impressive Holkham Hall.
Once out of the water, the undulating, bike course will take you on a scenic journey through the beautiful Holkham Estate
Race pack collection and racking will be on Saturday morning. Race packs will not be posted. Photo ID will be required for all Race Pack collection as well as presentation of a valid BTF licence or day licence.
Bikes must be stickered prior to racking and security wristbands must be worn at all times for access to Transition – including collecting your bike post race.
Start format will be time trial with swimmers being sent off the pontoons at short intervals. Waves and start times are allocated based on swim time, individuals will receive their personal start time prior to the event but should arrive early in case of running ahead of schedule. Wetsuit requirements will be determined on the day in line with BTF rules.
