Outlaw Half Woburn launches for 2022

The Outlaw Triathlon Series is adding a new event in 2022 and a new headline charity partner across the Series to ensure that more great causes benefit from fundraising efforts. The new event will take place on 12 June 2022 in Bedfordshire at the expansive and beautiful Woburn Abbey.

Outlaw Half Woburn has evolved from the Woburn Abbey Triathlon working in partnership with tri for life, a registered charity which aims to raise money for a variety of deserving causes through the sport of triathlon. The event will cover a 1.2 mile lake swim, 56 mile bike ride and 13.1 mile run in beautiful surroundings.

tri for life has raised over one million pounds for charities including Great Ormond Street Hospital, Teenage Cancer Trust, Whizz Kidz, Breakthrough Breast Cancer and Rays of Sunshine. In 2022 tri for life will also be supporting Outlaw’s existing charity partners, Alzheimer’s Research UK & Cancer Research UK.

Race director, Iain Hamilton said: “Woburn is an incredible location and we’re really pleased to have secured it for the sixth and final UK event in the Outlaw Triathlon Series. I’d like to thank everyone at the venue and tri for life for working with us to make this happen.”

The Outlaw Triathlon Series comprised of five events in 2021 with nearly 8000 race starters. Outlaw Half Nottingham is already sold out for 2022 and the new event in June has attracted a lot of interest from the triathlon community. Outlaw Half Woburn will help raise the profile of the award-winning series by taking an event closer to London and previous Woburn Abbey Triathlon competitors.

Marcus Anselm, a trustee of tri for life said: “tri for life was set up in 2007 as a registered charity to bring together the sport of triathlon with fundraising. Since our first event with just 200 participants, the event has grown to now being a field of several thousand. We are incredibly excited to become the headline charity partner across the fantastic stable of Outlaw events and look forward to being able to support many more charities over the years to come.”

More details about the newest Outlaw event will be announced in the new year, with the planned date for opening entries set for 7 January. To find out more, join the Outlaw Triathlon mailing list here.
